Words are not adequate to express our sorrow for the people of Afghanistan, especially the Hazara, the women, the children. We need to stand up for those asylum seekers who believed in this country’s compassion but who have been cruelly kept behind razor wire for years in our detention centres or are now in hiding or limbo in or outside Afghanistan.
AusGhan Aid, a small charity set up by Najaf Mazari (The Rugmaker of Mazar-e-Sharif) and friends in Melbourne 10 years ago has been supporting an ambulance service and school resources to the poorest people in and around Mazar-e-Sharif. Since the takeover, it has quickly refocused and is sending support directly to Afghans who need to flee and get humanitarian visas. Tax deductible donations can be made at: ausghanaid.org.au
